Zucchini season

We have fresh zucchini in the garden so we are enjoying them every day in all kinds of recipes. Today it is a side dish of zucchini with dinner as well as zucchini bread. Scarlett delivered some extra zucchinis to our neighbors as we have too many to finish ourselves.

Mackinaw Island

Today we hiked the 8 mile circumference of Mackinaw Island. It was a beautiful day for a long walk, sometimes requiring a light jacket because of the lake winds. Tonight we're tired but looking forward to a whitefish dinner.

Zoo Trip

The school year is coming to an end so yesterday Scarlett's first grade class had a field trip to the zoo. Grandma went along as a chaperone! Everyone had a good time and Grandma had a nap after arriving home!

Lettuce

I bought a pack of mixed lettuce seeds and planted them about 6 weeks ago. This morning I weeded them, moved a couple, and planted more seeds in the bare spots. I think we can stop buying lettuce at the supermarket and start using our own fresh organic lettuce!

Concert Night

Tonight Scarlett's school had a concert. She wore her new dress and was very excited. The concert was great. Her class sang three songs.

Ready for School

Scarlett found an acorn today and decided to plant it to grow an oak tree. I think it takes a hundred years but she is very patient!
